I had always wanted a Fat Boy & in 2015 that dream came true. Oh my wife was mad, like divorce mad. But she decided to embrace it and she loved it. I didn’t have my bike license when I got the bike home so it sat in the garage for a bit as I suddenly was nervous even though I had ridden before. I took a course, got my license & have never looked back.
We kept the bike a secret from my family in the BC till we could ride down & show them. There is nothing like riding through the rock cuts & tunnels. The freedom of a bike is incredible, I don’t even know how to describe the rush it gives me.
We have since bought a 2017 Softail Slim S. As we don’t have kids we had a little fun with this announcement & had photos done as though we were holding an ultrasound photo. Several people were fooled & then mad because they got excited about a new baby.
One of our favorite rides is out to Bragg Creek for wings on a Friday night after work. It’s the perfect date night. Owning a Harley Davidson has been a goal for many years. The bike is my escape when I need it but brings my wife & I together for some couples therapy too.
The Slim is going in for a stage 4 upgrade this winter so I can’t wait for next spring to experience the new rush.
If you are reading this & have ever considered buying a bike I urge you to do it. As Patrick says “It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission”
